Suzanne is a registered nurse and midwife with NMBI. She is a former practice nurse with over 14 years of experience working in Irish general practice. Suzanne is a former Chairperson of the Cork branch of the IPNA. She is currently working in the field of Clinical Risk Management. Suzanne is passionate about patient safety and has a specific interest in infection control. She is currently undertaking a 3-year Masters in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors at Edinburgh University.
Grainne works as a General practice nurse in Drogheda Co. Louth. She is originally from Co. Cavan and moved to London to complete her training as a Registered General Nurse and a Registered Midwife. She also undertook training in special and intensive care of new born infants. She spent four years working in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia before returning to work in Ireland. She is married to Ian and has three teenage children who lead busy active lives. Her career path took her to General Practice in 2013 where she currently works. She prides herself in remaining up to date in all areas where she works. She completed an honours degree in midwifery while working in KSA. Her employer provides occupational health support for several local businesses which she is actively involved in. Recently she completed the Nurse Midwife prescribing program at the RCSI. She is chairperson of the Louth Meath branch of the IPNA and strives to provide education and training to nurses in the NE region. This role is voluntary and involves the organisation of monthly educational meetings. She engages her teenagers’ support with her IT issues. Every day provides new opportunities for learning and development. She remains acutely aware of the issues and difficulties nurses are faced with while working in General Practice.
After graduating as an RGN from CUH, Mary worked in various intensive care units in South Africa & Australia. She worked for 3 years as a Junior Ward Sister in the Coronary Care Unit, Middlesex Hospital, London. Returning to CUH, she worked in the Cardiac Cath Labs. In 2018 Mary moved into practice nursing with the Union Quay Medical Centre, Cork City. She undertook a number of courses in order to enhance her role including: Diabetic Module, UCC, Women’s Health & Contraception, IFPA, Dublin, STIF Course, St James Hospital and the ICGP Cervical Smear course. She is also a member of the Irish Practice Nurse Association. She enjoys both patient interaction and increasing her knowledge in the General Practice Nurse role.
